The MBS bone densitometry items cover diagnostic bone density under specified clinical criteria. They do not provide an item for a general body composition appointment. Ask the clinic to confirm eligibility, referral and the out-of-pocket fee for your examination before booking.
The examination. Match the appointment to your question or referral. Check whether diagnostic hip and spine imaging is included or needs a separate booking.

Can I book without a referral?
Booking requirements depend on the provider and examination. The referral section quotes the position published by each listed clinic, with a source and date. Where the position is not stated, ask the clinic rather than assuming a referral is unnecessary.
Does body composition include diagnostic bone density?
Do not assume these appointments are interchangeable. Check whether the booking is for whole-body composition or a diagnostic hip and spine assessment. Give the clinic the wording on your referral if you have one.
